known causa to us, the Democrat ic ticket was
badly ala.bed In flraham townahip. Mr. Tllden
should bsre had 125 rotes, butonly lfflwerceatt
fur him. The rote for Judge Dolt was run down
to 78, and Mr. Badebach's vote put up to 40,
while Hayes' got but 10 votes. The "sell" on
Sheriff was still wane. Why all this trading and
"selling out " took place we cannot tell ; but wa
will endeavor to learn how the 44 sell " occurred.

Mifflin county, Pa., while hunting on Shade
Mountain, oa tba 8th Inst., was shot aad killed
by the accidental discharge of bis rifle. As he
was aIcbb at the time of the aooideat, it Is impossi
ble to tell how H happened. When ha did not
return home at tho appointed time, parties went
la search for him, and found bis dead body, with
a ball Ib tba abdomen. Before dying, ba wrote a
note, which his friends found In his vast-pocket,
tut in g that the shooting waa accidental. Ho was
a highly esteemed eititcn, and was alont sixty
years af ago.

body of Mrs. Msrla Waple, of Wailaeetoa, this
eonnty, was found In tha woods near that place
last Wednesday afternoon, with a bullet-hole
through hei body and another In tba top of her
head. It appears that aba left homo oa Friday

was crldtntly killed on that day, and found the
following Wednesday, after search had been mods.

ing for Clark town, Washington county, where be

Railboad Collihion. A collision
occurred on tnc Tyrone A Clearfield Railroad, be
tween Osoeoln and Phillpsburg, last Saturday
evening, by which several persons were badly
hurt. A coal train at Phillpsburg was ordered lo
leave that place ten minutes ahead of Its regular
time, and tha freight train which was then at
Osceola was telegraphed to remain there ten mia
uls after Its usual time. Before tbe dispatoh
was rrceived at Osceola, the freight train bad left
tba i tat Ion oa Its way to PbtHpsharf,and, as the
coal train had left Phillpsburg, a oollisfon was
inevl table. The accident occurred about midway
between tbe two places. The two trains came to
gether with n fearful crash, completely wrecking
both cnginei and seriously wounding a number
of lb employes. George Crow t her. oonductor of
the freight traio, was terribly scalded, besides re
ceiving several slight wounds. The engineer and
Ed. Robinson, flrcmnn, of tbo same train, were
also badly hurt. The men on the coal traio saved
