lust another highly esteemed eitisen in the
person of Robert Dougherty. He aspired at his

and removed to this county about twenty-six years

of this borough, was erected by him. He was

Clinton township, which wa destroyed by fir
last spring, is being rebuilt. Toe fbuaaatloa nas
been releld, and last week workmen were busily
engaged in framing th tlm her for tbe super
structure, wbieb will be "raised" this week or
next. The new building will be a few feet leas la
sisc than the old one, but more solidly constructed,
and supplied with the best modern machinery for
tb manufacture of Sour. The mill ia drlrea by
tb waters of Black Hole creek, which rise near
tbe south base or Held JEagle mountain, and Bow
through the valley to th river, turning several
mills in tbelr course. As early a 1J tbe first
mill was erected at Pinohtowa by Wbittaker A

ofCtausson Whit Winter Wheat. On oft he bags,
noiiimg about a quart, waa takea by Hr. Isaac
A. Packer, of Woodward, and planted on tbe 80th
of September, lftT. It was cut oa the 101b of
July, 1 175, ai.d yielded about three pecks. Mr.
Packer, wko is an old and experienced farmer,
reports It aa th finest wheat he ever bad any x-
per tent with. It yield- hotter aad la of quicker
grnwm. ii stan us wen, wo sunt- are strong aad
tall, and it Ii smooth. Soma of the heads had
sixty four iraias in them, and all the heads were
nut. Mr. f acker s farm is mostly river bottom
land, but this wheat was raised oa the hillside oa
red shal land, which had never been manured,
and tb land had not long bean doared, this be
ing th third crop. The other wheat raised br
Mr. Parker was the Ohio Weevil Proof, which he
bad previously considered tb best wheat be eould
get. This be planted ea the 2d of Saptesaoer,
U74, and out it oa the th of August, making it
nearly a month later. ThaClaiMoa Wheat was
also planted by some ether far mere In Clinton,
