Three at Once. Wo lou'rn that
Mrs. Silos Stugarts, of Woodward township, gave
birth to triplets on Thursday, the 28th nit., two
boya and one glr!,'tbe smallest one weighing soren
pounds. All are doing as well as can be expected
under the circumstances. It is very evident on
every hand, notwithstanding the tightness of the
times, that the population of our county is greatly

Tate's Furniture Story. Brother
Tate of the Wiiliamsport Shu, relatra the follow
ing fact :
"It la well after all for our farmers to know
that there ia some virtne in sawdust. A contem
porary mentions that a near-sighted hen which
mistook sawdust for Indian meal, ate heartily
thereof, then laid a nest full of wooden knobe, and
in three weeks hatohed out a set of parlor furni
ture." .

HEnisrERiNQ Voters. Tho .Regis
try law requires the several Assessors in each
county to take up the list of voters on the first
Monday of June annually, and proceed to make
a complete enrollment of all the voters in each
borough and township, striking off the names of
all who may have removed from the district since
the last aaeeasment, or who may harj died, and
odd thereto the names of all who may hare re
moved Into the distriot since the last aseeaanient

A IU'sy Session. Court opened pre

in our court-room among lawyers and elients at
the bar.
A Lightning Ron Case Another
Wnrting. At the preaent term of oourt there
waa triad the cast of Baltics A Webster against
John A. Miller. In the summer of 1871, a com
pany of men passed through this section of coun
try vending and putting up lightning rods ; also,
representing themselves to bo agents of am
Kleetrlonl Inanrance Company. They represented
to our farmers that by giving a note they would
be required to pay the Interest on It for the term
of five years, then have It returned paying only
that amount for the Insurance and the lightning
rods thrown In. They succeeded In procuring
from Mr. Miller and others negotiable notes.
These notes were endorsed by the payee and ear
ried to Oirard, Penne , where they were sold to
a Ranking House conducted by the plaintiffs.
They, the plaintiffs, supposing the notes to have
beon fairly obtained, paid about eighty eenta on
the dollar for them. Ilia Honor, Judge Orvia,
held upon this showing that the notes being nego-
tlsble and having pnaaed Into the hands of Inno
cent holders must be paid by the makers that
