ers, so they could not preach, and
banished Roger Williams and bis

ity of this kind, it will take Democ
racy a long time to take root, How
ever, we have but little doubt but that
in a fuw years more bigotry and fa

The American Congress has for six
years past been practicing a speoios
of brigandago upon our people, never

their most prosperous days. In fuct,
it seems as though our publio servants
supposed that the government was In
stituted for their special or personal

Those in authority not only rob the
people of their lands and secrets their

bauched both Church and State. Rob

have inaugurated a system of
finance and banking which is nothing
more nor less than refined gambling,
and sot as though the whole power of
the government must be used for the

oppression, instead of protecting the
people, as was designed by its found
