a success.
A Decided Improvement.- Tho
Bald Eagle Valley Railroad Is just completing a
connection with the P. t K. R. R. to tho Junction
at Lock Ifaven, which wilt anablo the train to run
up lo the drpot without backing, and allow the
engines to Urn without resorting to the round ta
ble. A "Y" la now formed at that point, giving
two polntf of connection with the P. A R. road.
In Trouble. We noiico thut one of
the County Commissioners and the Clerk of Indi
ana county have been arrested for embeislement.
It appears that from 1:10,000 to 140,000 worth of
Court House bonds, and some of the Coaaty Com
missioners' records, are mining. What a pity
that the officials of that eictisirely loyal couDty
should be disturbed by soma foolish-not toned old
foglet who cannot see things as modern loyalists do.
Good for thi Brutes. It is re
ported tbat the Pennsylvania Society for the Pre
vention of Cruelty to Animals Intend shortly to
appoint a resident agent fur every town la our
State, whose duly it will be to report to headquar
4ers all oaees of cruel abuse of dumb animals whloh

Accident. The Pliilipnburg Jour-!
wot say a a young lad named lllowera had bis leg
broken and his bead badly cut at tho Morrlsdalo
mines on Wednesday. He was attempting to get
a ride upon tha ears which were entering the
mines, aomc eight or nine In number, when he
missed bis footing and fell between two of them,
receiving tbo Injuries above staled. Tho fracture
of the leg waa compound, and the scalp was cut
to the scull from car to ear, across the back part
of bis head. It was fortunate that he caotped,
oven, with no more dangerous wounds.

call and lift them. If not paid on or before the
first of July, tbey will be put in the bands or the
proper authority for collection, when additional
