Ma. Enivoai Our neigbbora of Wallaoetos have
had a change of mlnlatert. The Rer. William II.
Narcroaa, a truly eloquent and devout expounder
of the Word, has retired, I believe, la private life,
and while the prayarl and good wlahtt of the lit
tles congregation he bare will alwayt follow bim,
their regret at parting ia somewhat softened by
their fortunate acquisition of our youthful but
promising friend, Rev. John 8. Miller, and cor
more experienced friend, Rev. Joshua Reynolds,
under whoaa aplrltual guidance tha Wallaeeton
look muat certainly enjoy the very heat of Hea
venly pastures. With such ahephsrdi it could not
be otherwise. I waa much gratified, during a re
cent viatt ta tbia thriving place, te sec that tbe
church waa nut only completed but dodloated for
mally (o the service of the Most High and not
only dedicated, but feat eooeeoratlog Itaolf, and
swelling Its credit account with good works. Dur
ing tha prayer ueetinga fullowlng Iho dodloatioo,
tho mournera' bench, seldom If ever vacant, waa
often crowded with applicants for grace, whose
forvent prayers and mighty wrestling with tbe
flesh promised a certain though hard earned vie

mora piety and feeling than undemanding, ex

forgiveness which was not denied on tbe cross.
I eould then hare returned borne, happy in the
thought that the number of hypocrites In this
world was reduced two or three at least. But
that satisfaelloa was denied me. They prayed
and sang aa veclferoualy as any there) but tbeir
hearts were not in it. Their worship was a matter
of buslneaa, and muoh eaaier and eheaper than

acape-goat la bore wanted, or a liberal offer of
burnt offerings for these tins of transgression,
I do not wiab to be severe, but I have serloaa
doubts wbothcr any goat of modern breed oould
bear the half that would be piled upon it. How.
aver, thla Is not ths only church where the roleo
of the wronger and tbe wronged mingle In Iho
same sacred muslo, and God alone can distinguish
them. Still I am happy in the belief that the
good are really In the majority here, and had I
not already oruwded upon your apace, I would re
joloe to give honor where honor la due. I oaonot
however forbear mentioning tbe name of my well
known aud much estcemsd friend, Iaaao Shimcl,
to whom too much praiae or credit cannot bo giv
