morning entailed a new blessing upon the patrons
of tbe Clearfield Post Office. That morning found
our gentlemanly P. M., Mr. Gaulio, In his new
building, and everything fittrd up In flrat rate
style. The new arrangement Is so modern and
city-like, that It will take us "country cousins"
some time to adapt ourselves to this new order of

At Work. Tho County Auditors
are busy at work this week, overhauling the sev
eral accounts of tho Trcasnrcr, Commissioners
and other county officials. The board now con
sists of John D. Miller, of Chest ; D. Aaron Wise,
of Kntix, and ltrulen McPherson, of Clearfield,
.eod from the way they take hold of the vouchers
and accounts, they evidently mean business, and
if there are any Tammany, (Irant or other rings
lu Clearfield tbey will find them beforo they get
through.
We Surrender. Wo have leuo
completely "run down" with the proceedings of
"Teachers' Institutes." Manuscript enough lies
before ut to (ill three issues of the lUri iijrA,
and still more coming. We admire the enterprise
of the teachers of our county in this line, but are
jluutpelled to decline all manuscript of this char
acter, unless It Is oondensed al least fourfold. If
we publiih the proceedings at length for the
teachers of one district, we are compelled to pub
lish for all, and we would be overwhelmed with
"copy," or compelled to employ a clerk to answer
and explain, "Schoolmastere'" letters to editors
are usually very lengthy and precise, and to an
swer them takes a great deal of time and postage.
Hence, we surrender. j

Clearfield Borough Election.
The following la tbe reault of the eloetion in this
borough on Friday lait. The town councilmen
were elected under tbe new, or cumulative, voting
law, the Democrat I electing four and tbe Hadicalf
two mombrri. The new law la a humbug. As a
Democrat, we would rather concede our opponent!
two mcrabcra of council for all future time, than to
be puniehed with tbia "cumulative voting." The
remit will be that no one who la lit will be willing
to serve on tho election board, because of the
"bother" of counting 1, 1 J, or S, 3, 4 or 6 votca
for candidate. None bat experts In arithmetic
