Our New Post Office. Christmas Morning entailed a now blessing upon the patrons of the Clearfield Post Olflco. That morning found 'our gentlemanly P. 11., Mr. Oaulin, in his new .building, and everything fitted up in first rate atyle. The new arrangement is so modern and Veily-like, that It will take us "country cousins" - some time to adapt ourselves to this new order or . ;; things. The change in this instanoe Is a decided improvement, and right well do our eitisens ap- preciate it, m s . I' At Work. Tho County Auditors are busy at work this week, overhauling the sev eral accounts of tho Trcasnrcr, Commissioners and other county officials. The board now eon slits of John D. Miller, of Chest; D. If we publUh the proceedings at length for the teachers of one district, we arc eonipcllcd to pub lish for all, and we would be overwhelmed with j."copy," or compelled to employ a clerk to answer and explain. There ii a project on foot to annex the lower or nook end of Bell town ship to Ferguion and Fena. This portion of Bell Is literally rut In two, and the river should ba made the Una between Peao and Ferguson. Wt learn that the residenti within the proposed ceded territory seek an alliano with the townships named, and w presume theia will bo no objection on the part of the townships uanied, as tho terri tory aud population are both desirable aud will add much to the oonrenlenoa of all. The territory in question Is bounded by the eouuty map as follows t ' ' Beginning at tbe Susquehanna river anil tract line of William Drinker, In Fergusou tuwnshipi thene along the Una of Bell aud Ferguson town ships to tho western line of the Jamos llubley survey ; thenoe along tho lino of the James Hubley aud Jultn Doyle surveys to the river; thence down the deepest ohannol of said stream to tbe place of beginning, all of which territory, heretofore at- tached to Bell township, shall hereaflor be annex ed to aud belong to Ferguson township. And further, all that portion of Hell township lying between the following boundaries, shall here after be annoxed to the township of Penn, vis t Begiuulng at the Husquohanna river and mouth of llaalctt's run ; thcuoe up said run until It inter sects the township Hue botween Bell and Penn townships ; thonce along the several courses and distances of said township line until it strikes the river ; thenoe up said stream to the plaoe of be ginning. A glance at the eouuty map shows that Ibis an nexation scheme takes the nock end off Bell town ship, which Is cut la two by tho river, and assigns the one portion to Ferguson and the other to Penn. This seems to be a natural alliance and assigns territory where It naturally belong. Yet there may bo some' objections, which do not develops themaelree to our view at this distance from the scene. Still we deem It far better than a new township, which, if erected, would only add to the gcnoral expenses of the eouuty and render no one more comfortable. Clearfield Boroi.uii Election. The fullowing is tbe result of tbe eloetiou in this borough on Friday last. The town councilmen were elected under the new, or cumulative, Toting law, the Democrats electing four and tbe Radical two members. The new law Is a humbug. As a Democrat, we would rather concede our opponents two members of council fur all future time, than to be punished with this "cumulative voting." The result will be that no one who is fit will bo willing to servo on tho election board, because of the "bother" of eounting 1, 1 J, or S, .1, 4 or 6 votes for candidate. Nono but experts in arithuictio and penmanship are qualified to keep tho tally under this "new departure." I'BURMI. 0. I.. Read, dem Thomas Robins, rad TOWJC COI'XCIL. 1. 1,. Ruisenstein, demM W. C.
