to whether Senator Wallace would be
a candidate for re election. What his
fueling are upon this point wo are
unablo to tell, but wo can sny this
much, the pcoplo of the district will
act very unwisely if they do not send

know that he was very near resigning
two years ago, seeing that hi private

hilice former presidents liavo deemed

Whiskey Insurrection, and in the
timo of South Carolina nullification.
Theso presidents found the lnwlos

in which insurrection existed. But
Grit ill's proclamation is a vague irtoiiuce

despotic power with which ho has
been clothed.

surrection. If the Ku klux were not
a more harmless myth than the bead
