The Clinton Jkmotrat of last week snyi : "The flood in tho Sueriiii'hannR reached its height of eight feet on last Saturday morning. There was a Inrgo number of rails tied up at Lock port, about seventy-five or eighty of which are believed to have been enr ricd down. The boom held secnrelv. and no logs wero lost out of it. It became very much packed, and suf fered a very cronl strain. There wero no casualties on the liver. A man and his rait camo over Queen's Hun dam, which gave riso to the re port of two men being drowned there. Tho man was washed oil' his raft, but succeeded in getting on again by swimming. Il was curried down uud rnn into tho boom here, breaking to pieces, and running under tho logs. The man Bcomcd unconcerned about the matter, and innnif'e.stcd moro re grot over the lots of his old hut than anything else. A large number of Iocs had been rafted out, most of which wero carried away. Tho following are somo of the parties whoso logs went down ; Best, Dickinson & Hopkins, about 3,I)U0 logs; A. Simpson, G to 7,000; Sat cilee, about 3,500 ; Shaw, Blanchard & Co., between f and 0,000; 8. M. Bicklord, about 300 ; besides smaller losses by men who had caught drift logs and rafted them along nlioro. The only heavy loser about hero by the rafts breaking loose, so far as wo could learn, is Mr. J. Scott, who had seven carried down. Chatham's Kun was very high, we are informed, nnd turbulent. Tho mill of .Napp& Townsend was very much injured, and a large number of their logs were carried oft. THE I1AL1) EAGLE was up higher than it has been for rnuny years higher than in 16o, the citizens at Flcmingtoh says: The water was not ko high nt this place, because, tho river was not 60 liih as in 1HG5, which backed up the water then to n greater extent; but tho stream abovo was higher. Tho boom held salely. Xt injury was done save to tho crops on tho bottom land from Flemington, which was coniplctly un der water, extending from the moun tain in to Hawkins' brickyard at that point. The only casualty there was the drowtiiiii; of young Walizer in at tempting to cross from the bridge over to dry land on tho Mill Hull side. IS WILLI AM SPORT, on Kuturday morning, tho water was 1!) feot 9 inches above low water mark. Tho loss of logs thero is given by tho West Branch liuUttin as follows : 'Dodg ii Co., one million feet logs ; II. James k Co., ono million: J. V. Brown t- Co., ono million ; J. A. Otto k Son. 250,000 feel; John DuBois, 250.000 feet; G. Tinsmnn, 250,000; Cook, Slonaker Co., 600,000 feet ; Trulinger, Croft & Co., 500,000 feet ; Mulilon Fisher. 250.0110 feet : White. licntii White, 10,000 feet; Crouso, Hcrdic k Co., 20,000 feet. There were others who lost moro or less, but wo have not been able to ascer tain tho particulars. In addition to the ubove, about 2,500,000 feet cs- enped from tho boom. Probably the loss to t lie lumbermen ot tins city will reach nearly f:!00,000, not count ing the drawback for what they may recover below. The Loynlsock boom has not, we understand, caught many, and it is estimated that 8,0U0,000 feet passed below that point. The man employed in Williamsporl to catrh Lock tlaven logs thinks that about 5,000.000 feet parsed out that boom, and about 10,000,000 fuct that had been rafted out wero carried down stream. Tho Bellefonto Watchman says : "Throughout tho whole county the flood has done great damage All the streams wero very high, and fields, meadows and gardei s bavo been washed almost into ruins. Tho heavy rains have prostrated tho gruin and potatoes, and much difliculiy will be experienced at harvest lime in cut ting tho crop. So much damage has not been dono by any storm for a long lime.
