they tried lo muko a fire in the stove,
when by some means to us unknown,
the fire was communicated to the
building, and in a very few niinutei it
was one mass of flames. Only through

Hoover, Kw , on Elk street, was en
tered by thieves on Thursday night
last. Tho entrance was made through
tho cellar, and a gold watch and two
hundred dollars in money stolen from
tho room in which Mr. und Mrs. Hoov
er were sleeping. Tho thoives made
thotr departure without awaking
any of tho family. An examination
of tlm cellar in the morning showed
that they tarried lonir enough to drink
ome milk and devoured a loaf of
bread. Mr. Hoover know nothing of

with a sensation of sickness ut tho

chloroform or ether in the room, which
leaves no doubt that himself und w ife

A terrific thunderstorm passed over
Canton, liradlbrd connly, Saturday.

mencing their performance, when the

about four miles north of Cunton, was
struck by lightning and burned to the
ground.
