Dead. Another of our oldest
inhabitants has gone to that bourne
from whence no traveler retu'ns.
John Flegal, residing near Luthers-
brjrg, and well known to many of our
readers throughout the county, depart
ed this life on tho IStli instant, in the
75th year of bis age.
He w ith bis father removed to this
county from Maryland to near Philips
Imnr, 67 years ago. Ho is tho father
of Treasurer Flegal, and bis death
ss caused by cancer, from which ho
auffered intensely for a year past.
He leaves a widow and a large circle
of friends to mourn bis demise.

South Pass, in Sweetwater county.
In llio same county, a band of Arra
pahoes bad been sent by (Jen. Augur,
to camp during tho winter. Their
villaL'O was about 40 miles distant
froinAllanlio City ; not so far but
that many members of the band from
their frequent visits of Atlantic were
well known by tho citizens, who bo
licvcd them to bo peacefully disponed,
although nn nltogether lawless gang.
Tho morning of .March 2'Jth, young
Irwin set out to transact some
business at a mine somo four miles
distant. When about ono milo out of
town, bo met a band of Arrapahocs
going into town. Knowing them, or
a portion of them, Irwin all uncon
scious of danger, passod on towards
the mine. Vt lion the Indians had
passed him nbout twenty yards, tho
hand halted, and ono of thorn fired at
Irwin, hilling him in 'he body, from
tho effects of which the boy foil. Tho
6cnds now came back to the proatrutv
It ii In tiini niter stripping him of Ins'
clothing, boots, shoes etc., and kiek-
ing and tramping him to their con
tent, the iiibumun wretches satisfied
their dcvilUhnesd by shooting three
arrows into voting Irwin's body.
Thoy then fell him, belioving no
doubt, his caso was settled, Irwin,
though mortally wounded, summon
ing up u'l his wasting energies, man
aged to get back to Atlantic City, and
survived his treatment until the next
evonins. April 1st., when death merci
fully relieved him of his agony. Some
3 or 400 citizens mounted and on foot,
immediately went in pursuit of the
murderers. While on trail, tho pnr
surcrs discovered the bodies of six
other murdered whites, stripped ol
their clothing and riddled with arrows.
Somo distance from Atluntic, tho pur
surcrs came up with tho rod wretches,
and succeeded in killing ten of them,
including that notorious thief and
murderer of Colorado, "lilack bear."

Mrs. Dr. Hubert, charged wiih the
murderof Mrs Kate Moralls, of Phila
delphia, by abortion, has been arrested
in that city and committed to prison.
Sho is reported to be a bcantiful wo
man, very wealthy. On her books
were found a list of seven hundred
cases, mostly married women who
had accepted Mrs. Hubert's services )
She was very successful, this being
her first accident. Her charges are
noted in her books from (10 lo ti'iOO
in each case.
Tho Women's Suffrage societies arc
in a sad way. The attempt to unite
two rival clubs resulted in the birth
of a third, and now three female
