Our readores may not be generally awaro of the fact that the Legislature of Pennsylvania, on the 21st of April, 1809, passed a pretty stringent law for the protection of trout. It prohibits the fishing for them at nil seasons of the year, by any other means or devices except by hook and line, and forbids the captu ring of them in that manner except in the months of April, May, Juno and July. Personsare positively prohibited from fishing for them in any way during any other time of tho year The law imposes a penalty of five dollars for a violation of its provisions and, also, imposes penalty of five dollars upon any officer neglecting to make report of violations which may come nndor his notice.
