Tnvkntors Th Bellefonl (Pa.)
ditors are inventors as well as writers.
Mr. Aletk, of the he mocratic Watch
tnan, has lately invented a patent gsl
ley, for tb us of printers, which
promises to be a useful and labor
aving article. It does away entirely
.with the quoins and side-stick, and
the galley can be set in any position
without danger of "piing" the mattor.
Air. Meek has applied for a patent,
which w hav no doubt he will re
ceive. Jlis invention has been tested
in the Press offioe in Philadelphia, and
pronounced a success.
: -Ur. Kurti, of ths Central 7VM, in
Bfll'efutite, has also invented a new
galley, on a somewhat diflorent prin
ciple, and will Uk out a patent. It
locks by means of a screw at the end,
and, when locked op, tb typ can be
turned upside down or placed in any
pvaition with impunity. It is also a
convenient and aseful invention, and
t th consequence of a snggpnion
taken from Mr. Meek' idea. Which
ol these two galley will obtain th
prtfurenee among printer will be
seen in th future. They ar both
touch needsd and useful improve
ment. W trust the inventors will
make their fortune off thsta. Clinton
