Wa find tlio followinrr impromptu

On Thursday evening liiKt.it bc
camo generally known in Pottsville
thttt the Democratic candiduto for
Governor, lion, llioster Clymer, was
in town, engaged in the trial of a ease
in our Court, and arrangements were
immediately made to neronado the
popular standard bearer1 of the white
man's party in tho coining campaign.
The PotteviUe Cornet Hand was en
gaged fcfr the owasioa, aud about ,0
P. M., a procession wan formed at the
Town Hull. Although no public no
tice had been given of the intended
compliment to Mr. Clymer, quite a
large crowd was preHcnt, and a nu
merous procession was eoon formed.
Ileaded by tho Hand, playing in their
usual splendid atylo, the procession
marched down Ccntro street to the
American House, followed by a con

Hand played several stirring airs. and
Mr. Clymer was loudly called for.
Tho crowd by this time was immense.
Centro street resembled a sea of up
lurned faces, all anxiously looking for
the appearance of the champion of
tho nomocracy. Mr. Clymer waR In
troduced to tho assemblage by Col. J.
M. Wethcrill, as follows :
Fellow citizens Permit mo to In
troduce to you the Democratic candi-
date for Governor, lion, jticsicr viy

of tho conservative men of the State,
we can Boon call Governor Clymer.

Mr. Clvmer was most cnthuciasU-

applause had somewhat subsided, he
addressed tho expectant crowd as
lollows :
"A sojonrncr for a few days, en-
paged in the trial ot a cause in your

evidence of your kindly regard. I

There is 110 earthly, use in keeping

even tho rmallest doubt about Kia
sincerity, or about his endorsement of

cy, let hi 111 he also requested to vacate,
l'ho country can well spare him. Tho
