Pigf to be fattcntd, shouhl be taken out
of the pasture as enrly mh the flr.-t of .Sej

flicji be kept very economically upon corn
tiut by the root, for Iao n:onths, and (in
ished off in Xoveniher with old coin, or

Where a regular rotation is pursued, the
last year of a field of gras may be devoted
to the swine pasture. As the- ('eiiiit.lt.
be taken up in tho 1'all fcr wheat, i ve. oi
some other grain, it will be i f little con -sequence
if tho turf be destroyed by the
rooting of the swine.
Good Whitewash for Indoors.
At tho request of many sub-eiihers who
have not read the previous volumes of the
American Ajr'rv'lur'.at, we here re-publish
the directions given t ,vo years since (or
j, ho becL u diiiewash we have ever used.
For a moderate t ied hoiifc, say S i coins,
Alout .13 lbs. I'aris white, tv d 1 lb. ben
ivliite glue are needed, I'iolve the glue
in hot water ; also make a thick wash with
tho Paris white, and hot water, and add
the dissolved glue and sidhcient water to
make the wash of tho proper consistence.
As the mass slitters over night, it is better
to mix eflch morning what is wanted dur
ing the day. If left over night, warm, oi
ndd hot water to make it limpid
The I'aris white is chalk cleansed from
Us impurities, ami is only a very pure
whiting better than i ordinarily us.-'d for
making putty. W'c use the Cooper glue,
which is consider! d the best here, but any
good nlitc glue will answer. It costs
here fiO cents per lb. at retail. I'.cth irti
les can ho obtained in :dmest every city
or village.
The above makes an excellent-whitewash,
elinn and white, and not easily rul
bed off. Its first cost is more than lime
wash, but it is durable, and for nice rooms-,
it is f;ir liieferable.
