Ekibt mope tiian Twei.te. A Dutchman
in Columbus county, Ohio, leased his
lands to an Oil Company liut spring, on
condition of receiving one eighth of the
oil procured. The well proved to bo a
pi elty good one, and the former began l
think that the oil men should give him a
bolter chance, and ventured to tell them
o. They asked him what he wanted,
lie said they ought to give him one
twelfth. The agreement was finally made,
with the undemanding that the Dutch
man was to tell no one. All went on
smooth until the next division day came,
when our friohd was early on hand to see
kow much better he would be off under
the neir arrangement. Eleven barrels
were rolled to one side for .he oil men, and
or.e lor him. This did not suit him.
"How is dish f" says he; "I tink I was to
get more as before. By jinks you make
miatake." The matter was explained to
him that he formerly got one barrel out
nf every eight, but it waa his own propo
rtion lo only take one of every twelve.
The revelation took him aback. He
fceratched his head, looked crow, and
relieved his swelling breast of feelings of
aelf-reproach by indignantly remarking,
"Veil, dat is is the first time as over"
Vootved eight waa more as twe're."
