effunty in his tannery, cs a substitute for
fish oil, nnd with most astonishing success.
During hist mon'.h he prepared one hun
dred sideB of upper leather and eight
.dozen of calf skins with tiii oil. Tliey
huvo been exhibited to practical leather
dealers from I ittsburgb ami from lioston,
and a quantity sent to tho Eastern mar
fcels, with entire satisfy clion to dealers. It
makes a cleaner and smoother finish than
the fish oil, fills up instead of opening the
pores of the leather, so as to niaKo it nl
fltost water-proof, and gives it tho finish
of tho finest calf skin. ItisuLo a supe
rior article for mixing blackening, having
tho quality of cutting tlie lamp black.
' -The smell does not lemain after tho dres
sing process is completed. The oil is used
