ployment, and having the least bit of
"vim" in them, would do well to write to
Mr. J. N. Boy lan, at Milan, Ohio, and get
the Co. 'a confidential circular to agents.
VWe had two visits last week from
the Curwensville Brass band, whodis
coursed some fine musio to the citizens of
our town. The gentlemen composing this
Band seem to understand their business
very well. We understand that they will
' be neutral in every thing except niusick,
during the campaign. They are willing
to give the Politicians as much musio as
they want during this campaign, provided
. Always, that the dimes are on hand.
J3"r"By reference to our Advertising
columns, it will be found that Messrs
Moore k Etzwiler, have received a large
lot of seasonable goods; and we can as
sure the public that they have indeed a
fine stock, and cheap too. This can easi
ly be inferred from the fact that they
are not afraid to advertise them. Call
and see them before purchasing else
where. .
!., Siriocs Accident. On Sunday last Mr.
r Daniel Welch, Miss Margarie Welch and
' Miss Rebecca Reed, started in a Buggy to
go to Blooiuington to church, when near
the place the Horse took fright and ran
, away throwing the whole three out of the
buggy. Miss Welch had one of her arms
broken, and Miss Read was very muuh in
jured in her back, so much that at last
accounts she was not able to set or stand.
Mr. Welch however Is not seriously in
jured. v ISLOur Republican friends in this
county on Friday Inst, nominated Gen.
John Patton for Congres, M. A. Frank
Esq. for Assembly, Alexander Murray of
Girard tp. for county Commissioner, and
Ellis Irvin Esq. of Goshen tp. for Auc itor.
They are all good men j but in a few
weeks more the Democrats will present
to the people of this District and county
a set of belter men, who will of course be
elected by large majorities. The Repub
licans only nominated men to have them
defeated by the Democrats, and we won
der why they go to so much trouble for
o small pay.
Pkimart Election. The Democrats of
Clearfiold county, will meet at their res
pective election polls in the several Bor
oughs and townships on Saturday next, to
nominate by ballot, one person for Assem
bly, one person for county Commissioner
and one person for county Auditor.
The Standing Committee designated no J
nour at which the polls should open and
: close j but it has been usually opened
heretofore at 2 o'clock, and closed about
7 o'clock P. M., and we presume it will
be generally understood so.
We hope a general interest will be la-
J ken in the mailer. By reference to our
fourth page, the rules and regulations will
