press from Denver City has arrived here,
bringing dates of the 30th ult. The ac
counts from the gold region continue flat
tering. Tho Indians were very trouble
some, an expedition to chastise them was
talked of.
Mr. McCoy, who left Denver City on

ot reiterate the cheering accounts that
reach us from alroad, of tho abundant

crops at home is far lest than was at first

there will still be much grain harvested in
the county, and tint of a bettor quality
than has been formally years.
The corn crop is still very backward,

joying, will do mucfi to retrieve it. With
this and the hope, (we cannot yet say
prospect,) of a fair jrop of buckw heat, we
may be enab'.ed to bach another harvest,
without suffering a) famine, e-spocially as
stay at home.

11th inst., while a party, consisting of Mr.
John Strayer, Jr., and Henry Laub, were
on a piscatorial expedition, for trout, near
the headwaters of Big Ru:i, in Anderson's
Gap of the Shade Mountain, about five
miles west of McAlistervillo, they were
startled in the midst nf their sport by the
howling of wolves. From the noise the
"vormints" made, the amateur disciples
of Isaac Walton concluded that the pack
