? OCrEx-Collcctor Bronson, of New York i
r is out in another letter to Secretory Guth-j
; rie. In this letter, like his fotrmerone, the
Kx-Cullec'or lubors hard t° create tho mu|
pression pnd belief, that in requiring the
Federal officers at New York to carry out
in good faith the spirit of the concession
entered into ut Baltimore in 1852, the Ad
• ministration of President Pierce, is thus
attempting to interfere with tho local pol
itics of an independent State. We do not
• hink that such an inference can bo drawn
from a fair construction of tho course pur
sued by Mr. Guthrie in this matter; and
the labored efforts of Judge Bronson to get
up a false impression in justification of his
- own conduct, is much more obnoxious to
' the true Democracy of tho country, than
was hid first act of insubordination in re
fusing to treat all Democrats on an equal
; ity, who, in faith, adhered to the
I . measures of the compromise. i
1 Wo are glad that this unfortunate diffi
culty in New York does not extend to our
* State. We would that they would be left
j to work out:pf;.th<?ir owp tables, iq:their
1 own way, without interference from any
; quarter. Of such an intention however,
■i wo did not considor either of the letters
of Mr. Guthrie.
