ADDITIONAL reports to the Agricul
tural Bureau show that the yield of
oats and rye will rule above the average
throughout the country. Indeed a ma
jority of the States show an increased
average and a better yield of both crops.
A CLERGYMAN in Wisconsin, while
drunk, cruelly beat bis little son, elevqp
years old, on the evening of Saturday,
12th inst. The neighbors interfered,
but were told to mind their own busi
ness and not until the man was arrest
ed was the boy rescued.
AT a recent meeting of Trinitarian
Congregational ministers of Massachu
setts, ltev. Mr. Turner, of Ilyannis,
told the following: The Universalist
church in Ilyannis was struck by light
ning. The nearest bell was on the Bap
tist church; but when they applied for
the key the old Baptist sexton refused.
"He was not going," he said, "to in
terfere with the will of God." The
church was consumed.
A FORT Garry dispatch says that
bail has been refused to Hay, Keegan,
Fletcher and Blakely for kidnapping
Gordon and the prisoners were comniit
ed for trial at the Octolier term of the
Court of the Queen's bench. Merriman
was admitted in S4OOO bail for his ap
pearance for trial at the same court.
