(iive us the stages—what we want is the shortest possible time to the railroad. We have received the Aldine for Jan. and it is superb. We know of no way in which one can get as much beauty for his money as by sending live dollars to James Sutton & Co., Publishers, 58 Maiden Lane, N. Card of Thanks.—l take this opportunity, with an apology for its lateness, of returning my most hearty tluinks for the visit of my friends, of the most pleasant and substantial character I ever enjoyed, on the evening of the 21th ult. On said evening on my return home I found quite a numlier of friends already gathered, and others and their families kept on coming in, from tow n and eountry.tiil a late hour. The tables were handsomely as well as no>st snmptuously spread, around which, age, prime and youth gleefully gathered, and all enjoyed with as much zest, the social feast of good cheer and pleasantry as that which was so luxuriously set l>efore them: all of which throughout the evening made it pass away, sltogether too swiftly, but with equal satis faction and pleasure to all present. I need not write, that this visit of my friends was gratifying iu tlie largest sense as to its pecuniary value, at this time, under such a dissaffeeted condition of society and when I am, by choice, temporarily without a charge; but it is chietlly and unspeak ably valuable and gratefully appreciated for the friendships and devotion attested by nty friends of my own and of the other congregations of this place and community, of which the tender good words, the hearty hand shakings and substantial parting gifts on that night, assure me. The en tire amount of donations left as Christinas gifts were one hundred and thirty-one dollars ($131.20) in greenbacks and about (10) ten dollars in other presents, making a total of $141.00 to which are to tie added thirteen dollars in cash since, which sums up the handsome amount of $144 cash or all together 154 dollars. Therefore for all these gifts—to the enterprise and success of the Com mittee and to all, these kindly donors, I must heartily return many, many thanks. And be as sured I shall carry away with me and ever cher ish with gratitude, tlie most precious memory of your kindness exhibited in so many ways and again so socially by these tokens of your abiding friendship. And hoping that all your gifts of love and numerous kindnesses, may always be as|cheerfully rendered and as gratefully received, please accept the utmost of my good wishes, botli for your temporal and spiritual good, while 1 shall remain as ever your friend and well-wisher J.
