Our German fellow citizens of Cou
dersport and vicinity are taking meas
ures to form a German Brass Band.
They, as a class, are a musical people,
and we have every reason to believe that
if this movement is projierly encouraged
it will give us an efficient band. AVe
have long been of the opinion that Cou
dersport needed a little more music,
and we wish our friends success in their
undertaking.
AVe have just received No. 1, Vol. I.
of the " Prattsbnnj A"< it's." published at
Prattsburg, N. Y., and edited by Paul
C. Ilowe. It is a neat, clear, well-exe
cuted luijier. and judging from tlie num
ber liefore us it will soon commend it
self to tlie jieople of that locality .

anything to do with it. but we are get
ting decidedly severe winter weather,
whether it is so laid down in the Signal
Office rejiorts or not. Monday morn
ing was one to prove the oft-rein-ated
remark that blood is thicker than water.
In fact, we believe blood was about the
only fluid substance hereabouts that was
not frozen. AVe didn't dare consult a
thermometer. Those who like things
to be one or tlie other, hot or cold, and
"nary" lukewarm, must be just enjoy
ing themselves about these times.
THE stage for Port Allegany leaves the Con
