ripen the old drunkard who 'has' long
fain in the ditch, and whose_ character,
property andel, long ago passed into
oblivion... So much fur -regulating the
liquor traffic. What a pity that those
gentlemen had not lived in France to
regulate their houses of licentiousness,
or in ancient Sparta, where theft was no
crime; if not detcc:ed. Those ten. li
censed houses will pay into the County
fund... 120: but how much will thvy
take out Look at the long trial list,
and 'see ten or fifteen criminal cases at
every Court, and more civil suits than
can be contained in one column of their
County paper. " A penny wise and

received in the City and County of
Philadelphia for tavern licenses in the

forprosecuting for crime, and for the
support' or pauperism consequent on
intemperance, in the City and County,
was, for the same year, $366,000.

200 bushels per hour. This Mill was patented
March 20, WV, since which time it has stood
at the head of the list at all the State and ceun
ly agriculturul societies where it has been ex
hibited. and is a universal favorite with all
farmers who have tried it. It took the pre
mium at, the first Agricultural Fair, held at
• Ilarrieburg,,..oet. 31st, 1t351, when there Were.
. 50,000 people present; and at the great Stdte
Agricultural Fair at liew-Yori, held at Roch
ester Sept. 16-19; 1 . 851. this Fanning Mill
