Opened with the President in the
Chair. The Convention then adopted
the following Resolutions:
Whereas, In view of the widespread
desolation daused by the-sale and use of
spirituous liquors, and especially that
part of it csused( by the illegal sale of
such liquorts, therefore
Resolved, That we, the members of
The Legal Protective Temperance
Society," will use all legal and efficient
means to have the traffic cease and the
offenders brought to justice..
Resolved, That we will not cease our
efforts until we have a Prohibitory LAW
passed as stringent as that known as the
Maine Law—not from hatred to those
engaged in the business, but for the well
being of the community.
Resolved, That we cordially acknowl
edge, and bid •God spet;d' to the orders
of the Sons and Daughters of Temper
ance and the order of Good Templurs, as
efficient instruments to secure this great
_an :1 good end.
Refolved, That we will give our in
fluence to Temperance in !n only 'to fill
all places of public trust.
Resolved, That as far as practicable,
we will patronize temperance taverns and
stores, and all other honorable and legal
avocations.
— Revolved, That the President and
officers acting with him be requ'csted
now to take the names of all persons
who desire to become members of this
Society, with the view of paying over 1
to them the percentage on the stock ,
within three months, and a, failure to
comply with this to have their names
dropped.
Resolved, That the Editors of the
People's Journal be requested to publish
the existing Laws of :his Commonwealth
restraining the sale of intoxicating drinks.
and also those Laws reg,ulaling the
.drinking of them.
Resolved, That the thanks of this
meeting be tendered to the citizens of
Cushingville for their hospitality on
this occasion.
Resolved. That the editors of the Peo
ple's Journal be requested to publi,,h
these proceedings.

DOUBTLESS there are many persons in
Coudersport and vicinity who have
never visited the famous BosTort Svorts at
the fast-growing village of V% ellsville.
The No. of this store is 94, which number
is over the door—
