No.Noro "Honorables."
The motion of Mr. Buckalew to strike
out the word " Honorable," prefixed to the
'name of himself and other members of the
United States Senate in the minutes of that
body, is meant merely to relieve the record
of a grievous burden of extra and unneces
mitt words. To say that Mr. Buckalew
made u certion motion gives quite as much
information as to record that the Hon. Mr.
BuckaleW ,did "so and so. The Senate in
humility agreed to the proposition ; so that
hereafter it will. be a misdemeanor for the
clerk's to give the title to any member of
that body. We wish the masses of the
people who have to write to and of, and
speak about the members of the Congress,
ivould follow the example. This title,
"Honorable," was in this country first
applied to United States Senators and the
high offices of.the United States. It was
next' conferred upon the members of the
Lower House, and after that, by an easy
transition, to members of the State Legis
latures ; and we have known it to become a
permanent prefix to the name of a person
whahudoncialsocin-is,cantacuite - xer election
to the Legislature, but who, through a de
fect in thepublic -taste, never reached• that
distinction. Nothing but a return to the
primitive simplicity of the early days of
the Republic will ever - put an end to this
passion for titles, which is cultivated by
the bad taste of the public in giving them
to politicians of whom they speak as
"Honorable," because they wish to flatter
them• ' Mr. Charles E. Buckalew, of the
Senate,formerly Hon: Charles E. Buckalew,
same body, deserves credit for the simple
democracy involved in this motion.
Neck• Twisting in Church.
The following is old, but it will bear
reading again, and the hint_ may do some
good. -
A. curious story is told of an eccentric old
minister, who was sorely annoyed by , a
habit his people had acquired (and - which
prevails, by the way, in all other churches,
even now and hereabouts, to some extent)
of twisting their necks round every time
anybody entered the door and passed up
the aisle of the church to see what manner
.of person it might be. Wearied with the
annoyance, the old man exclaimed one
Sunday:
" Brethren, if you will only cease turning
your heads round whenever the door opens,
and you will keep your attention on me, I
will promise to tell you, as I preach, who it
is that comes in."
Accordingly he went on with the .serv
ices, and
. presently made a'stop, as ono of
the *deacons entered, saying:
" That is Deacon Ii ,who keeps the
groCery opposite."
And then he announced. in turn the advent
of 'each individual , proceeding the while
with Ins sermon as composedly as the
circumstances would admit, wheb at last a
stranger came in, and he cried out:
"A little old' man in green spectacles and
a drab overcoat—don't know him—yoa can
all look for yourselves:"
It is' hardly necessary to add that the
good man carried his point; and there was
but_little neck-twisting seen in his congre
giition after that day. -

SICILIAN HAIR RENEWER
IL.S STOOD ME Trs: l ' OP SEVEN YEARS
BEFORE TILE PUBLIC;
And no preparation for the hair has yet been
discovered that will produce the same beneficial
results. It is an entirely new scientific discov
ery, combining many of the most powerful and
restorative agents in the VEGETABLE KING
DOM. It restores
GRAY HAIR TO ITS
ORIGINAL YOUTHFUL COLOR
It makes the scalp white and clean; cures dand
ruff and humors, and falling out of the hair; and
will make it grow upon bald heads, except in
very aged persons, as it furnishes the nutritive
principle by which the hair is nourished and
supported. It makes the hair moist, soft, and
glossy, and is unsurpassed as a HAIR DRESS
ING. It is the cheapest preparation ever offered
to the public, as one bottle will accomplish more
and last longer than three bottles of any other
preparation.
IT N BECOISMENDED A:1 4 :13 USED BY

The wonderful results produced by our SICIL

manufacture preparations for the Hair, under
various names; and, in order to induce the trade
and the public to purchase their compounds,
they have resorted to falsehood, by claiming
they were former partners or had some con
nection with our MR. HALL, and their prepara
tion was similar to ours. Do not be deceived by
them.
Purchase the original; it has never yet been
