of the right of way, aud all necessary timber and
other matorlals.found along the line of Its ope
rations.
lI.—A GOVERNMENT GRANT
of 12,800 acres of land to the mile, token In alter
nate sections on each side of Us road. This Isau
absolute donation, aud will boa source of largo
revenue In the future.
HI.—A GOVERNMENT GRANT
of United States Thirty-year Bonds, amounting
to from 810,000 to BIs,UOU per mile, accordiug to
the difficulties to bo surmounted on the various
sections to bo built. The Government takes a
second mortgage as security, and it is expected
that not only tbo interest, but*the principal
amount may be paid in services rendered by the
Company In transporting troops, malls, «tc. • The
Interest Is now much more than paid lu this
way.besldessecuring a great saving in time and
money to the government.
IV.—A GOVERNMENT GRANT
of the right to Issue Its own FIRST MORTGAGE
BONDS, to aid In building tho road, to tho same
amount os tho U. 8. Bonds, Issued tor the same
purpose, and no more. The Government Per
mits tho Trustees for the First Mortgage Bond
holders to deliver tho Bonds to the Company
only ns tho road Is completed, and after It has
boon examined by United states Commissioners
aud pronounced to be In all respects a first-class

shops, locomotives, cys, &o.
V—A CAPITAL STOCK SUBSCRIP-
TION
from the stock holders, of which over Eight Million
Dollcaa has been paid in upon tho work already

VI.—NET CASH EARNINGS
on Ita Way Business, Hint already amount to

FIRST MORTGAGE BONDS
upon such a property, costing nearly three times

The Union PaclUc Bonds run thirty years, are
for 81,01)0 each, and attached. They
hear annual Interest, payable on the Urst days of
January and July at the Company’s Ofllco in the
City of New York, at the rate of six per cent, in
gold. The principal Is payable In gold at matu
rity. The price Is 5102, and at the present rate of
gold, they pay a liberal income on their cost,
Tho Company believe that these bonds, at the
present rate, are the cheapest security in the
market, and reserve the right to advance the
price at any time.
