THE GOVERNMENT GRANTS 12.500 acres of

and authorizes the Issue of tho First Mortgage
Bonds now offered for sale, to tho same amount
and na more. The Government takes a second
leln, and gives to the First Mortgage Bondhold
ers a prior leln for their security, to which n
largo paid-up capital Is added. The Bonds can
not he Issued except as each section of twenty
mites Is accepted bv Government commission, so
that they always represent a real properly.
It is universally admitted that on tho comple
tion of tho Union Pacific Railroad, its through
business will make It (»ne of the most profitable

ready several times the interest on its bonds; so
that. If not another mile were built, they would
bo a secure Investment.
