The Committee appointed to prepare a suitable
' testimonial of regard on behalf of the members
of Che said lodge, for their late brother Herman
M. Johnson, repotted tbe following, which was
unanimously adopted:
This Lodge has heard with deep regret, and un
feigned sonow; the announcement uf the acuth
of our distinguished and beloved Brother Her
man M, Johnson, lute President of Dickinson
College. We are Keenly bouaible of the great loss
wo Have sustained by this sudden occurrence.—
Uls lung and usetul life, bis high character, and
true Masonic virtue commend him to our lasting
remembrance, as an example, worthy of imita
tion. Having tilled high and responsible sta
tions In the uifairs of life, ho always discharged
the various duties devolving upon him with
marked ability and unquestionable fidelity. Ho
was Worshipiul Muster uf this Lodge, for the Ma
sonic year in lesi, and was subsequently District
Deputy Grand Muster ot this Masonic district.—

We venerate his memory. Lotus emulate his

surance uf our warmest sympathy, m their sad
bereavement. Wo would not interrupt tbe sac
redness of their grief, but rather condole with
them, upon their Irreparable loss. But wo would
conUaeutly remind them, that their husband
and father, though dead to earth, yet lives, in the
bright beaming light of Immortality, and is now
enjoying tuo glorious reward consequent upon a
well spent life.

last been-received from Africa that Dr.
Livingstone is still alive, and this time
there can be no mistake, since the infor
mation comes from the intrepid traveler
himself, In the shape of a letter to Sir
Roderick Murchison. The Doctor writes
that he is in good health, his expe
dition has been completely successful,
and that ho expects to return to England
jit an’early day. This'ia, indeed, gratify
ing intelligence, and an account detail
ing bis explorations and adventures dur
ing the long period in which ho has
been hidden away from civilized sight,
will be anxiously looked for by the read
ing public in this and the old world.
