Too Good to bp. Lost. —Gov. Andrews, of
Massachusetts, is in hot water about his pil
itsry order'intended to menace the South.
Among many letters of remonstrance from
patriotic military men in the State, is one
from Captain Charles H. Manning, of the Sa
lem Artillery.. Ho says:
They, the Salem Light Artillery, are how
filled with astonishment at the .alacrity with
which Massachusetts offers her services in the
"work of war against her brethren. That she,
who, swept on by political rancor, proposed
to shut up her arsenals and her store-houses,
and bury every military ensign in the dusty
seclusion of deserted armories, while a foreign
foe was sweeping our seas, destroying bur
towns, and devastating our fields—that should
now rush to arms against those of her fellow
citizens who ask for a position equal with her
own under the .Confederation, is ns strange
and unnatural as that national madness which
vents itself in ‘the horrors of civil strife. That
she who denounced and defied the Union,
while it was in the hands of her political op
ponents, should now be eager to fight for its
preservation, is somewhat significant.

Prop. 0. J. Wood & Co.: Gouts.:—Tho lotto* I
wrote you in 185 G concernipg your valuable Hair
Restorative, and which you hare published in this
vicinity and elsewhere, has given rise to numerous
enquiries touching the facts in the case. The en
quiries are, first, is it a fact of my habitation and
name, as stated in the oommnnication: second, is it
true of all therein contained; third, does my hair
still continue to bo in good order and of natural col

My hair is even bettor than in any stage of my life
for 40 years past, more soft, thrifty, and bettor col

ly Cause why It is not generally true; it that the sub
stance is washed off by frequent tthUitlOU tif tho (hco,
when if eared were used by wiping the fheo in close
connection with tho whisker's, the same result wUI
follow as tho hair. I have been in the receipt of a
groat number of letters ff’om.all parts of New tlng
land, askingmc if my hair still continues to bo good ;
ns there is so much fraud in the manufacture and
sale of various compounds .as, well as this, it has, no
doubt been basely imitated and boon used, not only
without any good effect, but to absolute injury. -X
-have not used any of your Restorative ofany account
for some months, and yet my hair is as good as ov
er, and hundreds havo c.vuminod it with surprise, as
I am now GZ years old and not a gray hair in' my
head or on my face; and to prove this fact, I send
you a lock of my hair taken off tho past week. I
received your favor of two quart bottles Instsnmmer,
for which Xam very grateful: I gave it to my friends
and thereby induced them to try it; rimny were skep
tical until.aftot trial, and then purchased and used
it with universal success. I #ill ask ns a favor) that
you send mo a. tett by which I can discover fraud in

tho failure is caused by tho impure article, which
curses the Inventor of tho good. I doom if my duty

effect on my hair, as I assure all who enquire of mo
of my unshaken opinion of its valuable results. I
