'l’d; like to know how you’had to go. Yes, I

good excuse to get away from your family
.and home. I wish there was. no election in
..the.whole country—it would bo much better!
* -off if it hadn’t any. . What did you-do all
f night long? Who did you elect? Who did
you see? Theatre and dance? Now, turn
- oyer here. Oh 1 Lord, am, lin a hop-yard or
.distillery,, of whom am I? What have you
got outside of you ? Didn’t drink too much.
■ You must have got into a beowbarrel, then,
for it’s coming out all over you, and how it
smells. You danced, eh? You must have
' dot a pretty figure; guess it was a lager reel ?
Bo you think I’ll stand this going off to n
. dance all night ? Who did you dance with ?
■l’ll bet she was as homely ns a pumpkin with
two holes In it. Look here, you needn’t pre
tend to sleep; I want to have a little domes

half, and your bettor half proposes to discuss
blatters a little. Late ? Ilow do you know
it’s late ? It’s early enough to give you a.
fjeco of a woman’s tongue. Tonguoy ? Yes,
atntouguoy: that’s part of a woman’s pro

you. Let you alone ? Did you say that to
the girl you danced with? Oh, no! nothing
of the sort; it was, ‘ Miss, shall I have the |
pleasure of your beautiful person for the nest
cotillion?’ T wlsh I;could see her; I’d take
the beautiful out of her with a jerk.. Can get
no peace? Yes, can get plenty of it—go to
the theatre; go electioneering; dance with
the Dutch girls till morning, and come home
?, n d I’ll give you peace by the long measure—
I’ll gi™ you a piece of my mind. Como hack
here ; where are you going ? Get into anoth

smaller lately. You danced, did you ? I’d

were engaged. .1,000 buffaloes were shot.—

Tree Plantings.— Wo find that trans

. moist, heavy, or argilloeious soils, spring is
the best, without reference to
variety of the fruit. And wo should adopt
this course whether in regard to shade or
- Mint trees—always excepting the evergreens.
aWhmh we do not think do nearly so well in
the fall as spring. The best time to trans
plant m the fall, is as soon as the trees are
done growing, which can be determined by
.a?-® of the leaf. By this early opera

■ ready .for an early start in-the Spring, and is
-also better prepared td stand the severity of
;the wmter. Barge trees, especially, should
be transplanted very early, or not until the
ground is frozen hard.
Winter Rules.— Never go to bed with cold
or damp feet. In going into a colder air, keep

; nose and head, it may become warmed before
. the lungs, and thus prevent those
eudden chills and shocks,-which produce pleu

.disease; Never'sleep with -the head in the
draft of an open door or window, lot more
cover bo on the dower limbs than on the body.
, Jlave an extra covering within reach in case

out of doors, especially at the street corners,

.Never ride near the open window of a vehicle
