Listen -to .llie Words of a. Patriot.
:: The following i s an extract from the fure
wcll address ef Andrew Jackson, They are
words ftHyspokcn, and worthy the considera
tion of every citizen at the present time.—
Item! them, reflect on them, and then ask
yourselves whether they are not the words of
wisdom and truth: ■ .
I ll© citizens of every State should studious
onsly avoid, every, thing calculated to wound
the sensibility or offend the just prido of the"
people of other States; and they should frown
upon any proceedings within therf own bor-,
ders likely to disturb the trdnquility of tlioir
political brethren in other portions of the Un
lon. In a country so extensive as the Uni
ted States, and with pursuits so varied, the
internal regulations of the several States must
frequently differ from one another in imnor
tunt particulars; and this difference is una
voidably increased by the varying principles

people of ether States or the rights of the Un

measures proper to their happiness; and all
efforts on the part of the people of other States
to cast odium Upon their institutions, and all
measures calculated-.to. disturb their ri-dits
of Property or to put in jeopardy their peace
and internal tranquility, are in, direct opposb

The lion. Henry 1). Foster, Into Deiuocratio

and cordial speech. Gen. Foster was loudly
cheered, and responded briefly as follows :
