A lot of sixty bars of Railroad Iron, says
the Baltimore American, has been shipped at
Wheeling for Louisville. This is the first rail
road iron manufactured in the West. It was
from the extensive ftictory of Gill, Hardman &
Stephens. The same firm have a contract for
four thousand tons from tbo Central Ohio Rail
road.

ihe Now Brunswick Legislature, and a bill pass

Law. The wholesale and retail dealers aro to

Aldermen have passed a resolution authorizing
the payment of $lOO,OOO to four attorneys, who

learn that preparations arc in progress for open
ing a portion of the West Chester and Philudel-
Dotno Business Promptly. — A gentleman
and lady were recently united in the bonds of
wedlock at Fairview, Eric county Pa-, under
rather peculiar circumstances. It is said they
met at chruch, for the first time, last Sunday
week; and os the Girard Express has it, the
man, impressed with the fitness of the maid to
becomchis “life partner.” at once made a propo
sition to her to become his wife. She very mod
estly asked him to wait for an answer until di
vine service was over, when she said “yes,” and
they were married instanlcr.
The Walker Expedition. —Letters from
San Diego, of March 25th, state that about
thirty ofWalkcr’a men arrived in that town,
and would leave immediately for San Francisco.
These men state that when they left Walker, on
the 2lst instant, ho was preparing to abandon
the New Republic, as he.called it, and would
start with about forty of his best officers and
men on the following day for Texas—crossing
the Colorado river.
