about a certain CAPTAIN ‘Jeremiah Reese, who
hails from the west end of the Harrisburg bridge,
and who (hey allege ha's deserted the demofcralic
party and gone over “body and breeches” to tho
Harrison ranks. Could cither of those papers in
firm us whether this is the same Capt. Reese, who
was uniformly opposed to the dcmooratic p.arty up
till 1838,-and from that time to the period of his
rpcstacy back again, has been a standing but un
'succestful applicant for every.office almost about
Harrisburg in (ho gift of the' Governor and the
Legislature! If it bo the same individual, (and if
not, those papers can set the public right on the
subject,), then is his sudden rcturri-to his “first
)ovo”'oasily accounted for. We only ask"for in
formation. 1

Singular Que.^- The following narrative

fublished at Amesbnry, Essek'co. Mass.
' .“Miss Luc/ Harrington, formerly a resi
ent In Amesburv, recently died in Cornish,
, ff. H. She was sick three years anda hailf,
rid confined tp-her bed two: years and five
ninths. Several’ months previous, to her
v eath, her right hip waS dislocated by a con
action of the muscles; while she was sleep
ig quietly in. her bed. - Immediately after
tie event, her bones began to break, and
.ifore her death they had broken nineteen
* hes or more, in difterent parts of her body.

gradually lost all Strength in her limbs, un

A Fatal Sleighing TV-o/fc.—A St. Louis
paper states that on a recent occasion, ns a
gentleman and,lady—Mr. Allison and Miss
King— 'were riding in n sleigh, wlien about
four miles from the village of Manchester,
the horse took fright, anti when thinning at
full speed camein contact with a tree, throw
ing them both out of the sleigh with great
violence., _ The lady expired before she
readied home, and the. gentleman was so
severely injured as to leave but little hope
of his recovery. - They were both residents
of Manchester. The horse .was also 'much
injured, having thrown' hinigelf into the
crotch of a tree, from whence he could: not
be eitricated until the tree was 1 cut down, ■
A Woman Frozen to /3caf/i.—ln_9pring-
N. H., Mrs. Hardy, aged ,100 years,
having travelled on February IIth) in the
evening. aboot two miles over a hill on foot,
on the snow crust, lost her shoes and wore
out her.siocking.4, came to a house which
was fastened ; and no person within, left her
staff atjfthe door and went into a barn yard,
near<the bouse, half a mile distant from any
other house, where she wrapped her cloak
around her feet ahd laid herself down—and
was there found |-next morning froir.en to
