Constitutional Convention.
Thus far this Convention has done
little but adopt rules, receive proposed
amendments and get ready for work. The
appointment of these standing committees
complete the preparation, and we may now
look for work, though even this will be
done mainly through the committees for
the present.

Yesterday morning, in the Supreme
Court, Judge Agnew delivered the opinion
of the court in the case of Francis J. Fer
ree vs. the School Directors of the Sixth
ward, Allegheny, in which the judgment.
of the court below was affirmed.. '1 his w..s
a writ of error to the Court of Common
Pleas of this county, and the action was
brought to determine whether school di
rectors have the right to cuter upon im
proved property for school purposes. Fer
ree owned a dwelling house :.,Ijoining the
school property in the Sixth ward, and .
the board having failed to negotiate with
the owner for it had viewers appointed,
and then took possession of it for school
purposes. '1 he case was brought in the
Court of Common Pleas to reenver'the
property, and a verdict far defendents
was rendered The case was then carried
up to the Supreme Court. The opinion
at' Judge Agnew was as follows:
"In the ease of Broeket vs. Ohio and
Pennsylvania railroad company, 2nd Har
ris' 241, it was held that the right of a
railroad compiny to enter upon and appro
priate land for the use of its read includes
the right to remove a dwelling house.
