The holder"; of Triquiied: to .piy one trointVoti 'coal shVe held bjiliim, • l Until the steelc, contes to par, ,or, in other words, until each' share is worth two huildred 'dollars. Of course, if the money- was not ithproved it would require. exactly two hun dred months, or sixteen and two third years, to bring the stock to par; but by the method of loaning the funds, adopted by these asso-: °Wiens, this period is reduced to from eight to eleven years. Now as to the method of disposing of the funds. Let us suppose we have organized and set in motion an association which has disposed of two thousand shares of stock. It is plain from what fins been already stated that we would, during the first month, re ceive into the treasury two, thousand dollars. We now loan this amount of money at G per cent interest to . some member to build or buy a house, taking a mortgage upon the proper ty to secure the payment of the loan. . The money is disposed of at auction, at themonth ly meeting of the association ' and the member who will pay the the largest bonus, tiir its rise and give good security for its repayment, gets it. A will perhaps give a bonus of twenty five per cent, and if no ono else will give more, A gets the loamy If he owns a single share, he can get two hundred dollars ifISS the bonus of twenty-five per cent., or ono hundred and fifty dollars. We will suppose that hti owns ten shares. In that case lie can take the whole two thousand dollars less the bonus, or fifteen hundred dollars. With this he purchases a house, giNing the association s mortgage thereon, as security. Ile now simply continues to pay ono dollar per month on each share as before, paying also the in terest on two thousand dollars at six per cent, and whenever the stock, of the association comes to par his debt is paid, and the mort gage held by the association is returned to At this time also, these members who have not borrotied, receive two hundred dol lars per share for every share Of the stock held by them. It is obvious from what has already-been .said that the greater the comps-. titian for loatignmang the riteMbers, the larder will be bonuses offered, and the sooner will the stock come to par, and-hence, a 'man who is outbid, and thus disappointed in securing it loan, has the consolation of knowing that IdS money is being enhanced, and the larger the bonus his neighbor pays the :sooner his own stock Will reach par. This' instituti• n line peculiar advantages for men of small means, and for working men who ere able to save a few dopers from their monthly earn irige.. It promotei economy by inducing men to .4:l‘ C who would not otherwise do en, and enables them to build or buy property with but little more than their annual outlay for rent. For those who do not wish to build, it is the bet and. safest saving think in the world, 7The reason that it is such tidesimble means of saving, is that it is purely co-opera tive, or mutual, there being ,no preferred class to consume a portion of the earnings of the depo, itors' money. In au ordinary sav ings bank the proprietors or stockholders, make n'nargin on the earnings of the deposi tor's funds, but iii a building association the depositor is also the stockholder,'and he gets all thathis money earns. In sion, a build ing association is an institution that needs Only to be understoodto be appreciated, and' my object in this communication is simply to call attention to the matter, and promote VIIE LT. t{INCIERIEL—The Peak, Sr., family, of Pell lingers, gave an exhibi tion this place on Thursday evening last, Tbey, had a largo audience to greet them—in fact„the largest over assembled in Yenter's hall.
