Tuberoses should be placed in a
warm room, during winterovhere the
temperature is seldom below 45°, for
when the bulbs-are kept in a cool
plate the center or undeveloped flower
stem is very liable to decay, although

sound.
Farmers should not throw away
their potato•stalks. 'The stems and
leaves of the potato are very valuablo
for manure.
Lettuce and spinach can be raised
nearly a month earlier by planting the
seeds late in the autumn, and covering
them an inch. The early frosts will
not injure them.
Water in which potatoes have been
boiled possesses a poison fatal to lice.
Wash the cattle freely, and as their
hides dry, comb them, with a curry
comb.
Fallen.leaves contain not only the
Vegetable matter, but the earthy salts,
lime, potash, etc., needed for the next,
Season's growth and fertility, and that
too exactly in the proportion required
.by the very tree and plant from which
they fall. Save them.

Supreme Author from whom such blessings
flow, of their gratitude and their dependence,

same, and devoutly to implore a continuance
of God's mercies.
