wont one evening to steal corn from
his neighbor's field. He took Ida little
son with him to sit on the fence and
keep a lookout and give warning in
case any one should come along. The
man jumped over the fence with a
large bag on his arm ; and before com
mencing to take the corn he looked all
around, and not seeing any .one, he
was just about to fill his bag. Then
the little fellow, his son—a good little
fellow ho was, too—cried out :
"Father, there is one way you're
not looked yet!"
"'The father was startled, and sup
posed some one was coming. He ask
ed his son which way he meant.
, (Why, said the little boy, "you for
got to look up !"
The father was conscience-stricken ;
he came back over the fence, took his
little boy by the band and hurried qui
etly home without the corn he had de
signed to take.
