Wednesday morning, 0at,12t13,1864.
Igo, We have several communica

Good Meetings.
We attended good meetings since
our last issue, at 141arkleisburg, Maple
ton and Petersburg. There were oth
er good meetings held in different
parts of the county. The people are
•wake and are prepared to meet the
white flag party with a bold front.—
The demonstration at Petersburg on
Saturday night was a grand affair.
The ladies of West and Barree made a
handsome display.
WE regret to learn that Lieut. Geo.
C. Wilson, of Alexandria, of the 2d
Pa., heavy artillery, was taken pris
oner at the battle near Chapin's farm
on the 29th of September. George is
bne of tho fourteen bravo boys from
this office who have shouldered the
musket to fight tho rebels, and we
hope he may soon be erhanged that
he may again be in the front ranks

A "Greenback" well Invested,
A year ago several journals united
in recommending their readers to in
vest a Dollar "Greenback" in securing
that very excellent Journals for the
HOUSEHOLD (including the Little
Ones,) for the GARDEN, and for the
FARM, called the American Agricultu—
rist. We believe all who were thus
led to subscribe, have been much more
than satisfied. .They have received
the 23d Annual Volume of the Agri-•
ulturist which Is full of good things
useful, pratical, and entertaining; and
recently the Publisher has sent out to
each of his subscribers applying, a pre
sent of a plant of ono of the most re
markable Strawberries that has ever
been brought out. These plants, when
sold by the only other person having
them, Wills readily 75 cents each. So
the Greenback invested last year has
certainly paid well. All we have now,
to say is, let all others go and do likewise.
—Notwithstanding the present ad.
vance in cost, the Publisher still offers
to take subscribers at et a year, up to
the middle of -Nov., or from now to
the end of 1865 (fifteen months) for
81,15. And still further, he offers one
of the remarkable Strawberry Plants,
sent free and post-paid, to every new
subscriber who encloses five cents ex
tra for Crath - , - pucking, and postage
on the plant.—Our a‘lvioe, to all is, send
the Dollar (or the 81,13,) and the ex
tra five cents ; at once to Orange Judd,
Publisher of the Agriculturist, at -11
Park Row, New York City, and got
the paper etc. You will got a most
beautiful, well illustrated, practical
paper, and the cheapest ono in the
country, and ot,e that will many times
repay its cost by the useful informa
tion it gives, to say nothing of the ex
tra Strawberry Plant, etc. TRY IT,
Watches, Fine Jewelry; Solid Sil-
Ter-Ware etc., of a superior quality,
advertised in this issuo by henry Har
per, 520 Arch Street, Philadelphia.—
Header give him a call.
