4 sltoa not all gold that glitters."
'Two or three weeks ago the Lfoni-
Yor that a battery to which
htr. Glasgow belonged,
,was very
strong for "Little Mac," and led us to
believe that Mr. Glasgow was also "on
thin f oneo•" On Saturday wn -read a
from Mr. Glaggo* .to a
friend, in which ho gives his friends to
!Understand-that ho is still for Lincoln
and stronger than ever, and what
is better, a large number of soldiers
-who have heretofore favored the elec
tion of McClellan are "daily coming
round" to the support of the war par
ty to , crush the rebellion. The sol
diers are fast learning the position of
McClellan and we are willing to have
them vote just as they please. When
their votes come in the Northern trai
tors will smell powder.
Union Potatoe4.
We had presented to us on Satur
day last by Mr. Jas. C. Wright, of
Union township, sixteen' potatoes
which filled .a peck measure. We un
derstand Mr. Wright will have a lar,ge
crop of the same kind, only not qUite
so large, perhaps, this fall. He has
Aur thanks for the present.
=CZ!
We have the full ticket for the first
election printed and ready kr cl!stri
bution. Our Union friends throughout
the county who may be. in town
should call and get a supply.
Scratch not a man
We urge every Union man to stand
by the whold ticketHscratch not a sin
gle name, as there is not a man upen
i t who is notas good if not Uptter than the
candidates of the bogus • Democratic
party. That party will not scratch a
single man upon their ticket as it is
important to them to show their full
strength to please their great leaders
Jeff. Davis, Breckinridge, Val]anding
ham & Co. Don't be coaxed or deceived
into the support of any part of their
ticket.
Harry Gregg again a Prisoner.
Some clays ago the Rebs made a
raid on the army cattle on the James
River and captured some hundreds.
it appeare that Capt. Harry Gregg of
this place, was also captured at the
time. We find the following in a let
ter
,‘The force stationed at Coggin's
Point as guard for the captured cattle
consisting of one hundred and fifty
men of the 13t1; Pennsylvania City.,
were under command of Captain
Harry Gregg. Tho Captain is said to
.have fought with great bravery and
determirration, keeping the enemy at
bay for a, considerable time, while his
mon were trying to drive the cattle
further to the roar. He was finally
overpowered by greatly superior num
bers, and obliged to surrender his corn:
mand. Dr.. John C. Stanton, of the
RaMO
, reviment, was 'also capttired.
This is the second time within a year
that Captain Gregg haS been in the
hands of the enemy. He is a brother
of General Gregg, and is highly spo
ken of as an officer and a gentleman."

HENRY GRAPPIUS,
Chairman
They C.ottld , nt, Keop gutitt
On Saturday evening last a commit
tee of some forty or fifty Union men
met at the Court House, and the vic
tories ofSheridah striking the company
very forcibly, three cheers were pro
posed for the gallant Sheridah and
six for Lincoln and they were given
with such a will as alarmed all the
drowsy inhabitants in the neighbor
hood. Of course the Union people, on
learning the, state of facts, stood their
ground, bat the poor unfortunate
friends of the rebels retreated to their
holes very much down in the mouth.
Another Outburst of Enthusiasm
Our loyal' citizens assembled at the
Court House on Monday evening and
after repeated cheers for Farragut,
Sheridan, Grant, Lincoln and Johnson.
John Scott, Esq., was called to the
stand and amidst continuous cheering
and applause he addressed the crowd
in the most patriotic style.
The crowd adjourned to meet again
at the ringing of the bell.
In_ Miss SNYIJEK, of Juniata,
please accept our thanks for a ver3
handsome baguet.
