Some clays ago the Rebs made a raid on the army cattle on the James River and captured some hundreds. it appeare that Capt. Harry Gregg of this place, was also captured at the time. We find the following in a let ter ,‘The force stationed at Coggin's Point as guard for the captured cattle consisting of one hundred and fifty men of the 13t1; Pennsylvania City., were under command of Captain Harry Gregg. Tho Captain is said to .have fought with great bravery and determirration, keeping the enemy at bay for a, considerable time, while his mon were trying to drive the cattle further to the roar. He was finally overpowered by greatly superior num bers, and obliged to surrender his corn: mand. Dr.. John C. Stanton, of the RaMO , reviment, was 'also capttired. Sept. 20. 1864, HENRY GRAPPIUS, Chairman They C.ottld , nt, Keop gutitt On Saturday evening last a commit tee of some forty or fifty Union men met at the Court House, and the vic tories ofSheridah striking the company very forcibly, three cheers were pro posed for the gallant Sheridah and six for Lincoln and they were given with such a will as alarmed all the drowsy inhabitants in the neighbor hood. Of course the Union people, on learning the, state of facts, stood their ground, bat the poor unfortunate friends of the rebels retreated to their holes very much down in the mouth. Another Outburst of Enthusiasm Our loyal' citizens assembled at the Court House on Monday evening and after repeated cheers for Farragut, Sheridan, Grant, Lincoln and Johnson.
