The property this Powder possesses in in
creasing the quantity of Milk in Cows, gives
it an importance and value which should
place it in the hands of every person keeping
a Cow. By actual experiment it has proven
that it will increase the quantity of Milk and
Cream twenty per cent., and make the Butter
Arm and sweet. In fattening Cattle, it gives
them an ' appetite, loosens their hide and
makes them thrive much fester.

_LAU LATOR, • •
A Book of Plain Rules abd Calculations for Rutineu Ope
rations, by _Martin M. Rohrer, Practical surveyor . onel
Conveyancer. New Edition, published by J.ll. L(ppin-
Cott ot co., Philadelphia.
Thin work contains 204 pages, and upwards of 500 Rules
and Examples, entirely and thoroughly practical ' , Mil as
arise every day in the common pursuits of Ibutinen. • It
has already nagged through a number of editions in rapid
succession, and is pronounced by all clausal, of business
men to ho the handiest book of reference, pertaining to.
calculations, that has over been published, •
Every example in the book is worked out in full and
stated in a plain manner, so that when a parallel case art
d
see, those referring to e work will find no difficulty lu
solving it; in a word, the , general arrangement of the
CALCULATOR is simple, that any ono who knows how to
add, subtract, multiply and divide, can easily solve any or
dinary example that arises in business, or arrive at tt •
true result of any es titnate required.
The chief aim of the author has been to eschew theory
and philosophy in figures, aiming only at facts and /dumb
city, believing that business mon care little about spen
ding Ulna in discussing the philosophy of roles, of the
science of figures, deeming it sufficient for their purpose
to be able at a moment, by reference, to arrive at the true
result. The CALCULATOR differs in this respect from all
other Arithmetics of the day and kindred worksgi is a
key to practical business calculations—it is, In the Rands
of the bedtime man, what the key to mathematical works
in the bends of the teacher in the school room—it faelli
tates time and insures correctness.

and usages governing the same, together with numerous
