FLAX 1 FLAX 1 1 FLAX I I !
'THE UNDERSIGNED HAS SE
cured the hired improved machinery for breaking
an scutchiug Flax. It is now in successful operation.
I desire it to be understood that I am prepared to buy all
the flax time the farmers raise, above their household
w nits, and if they desire I will prepare shot they want
for their own use. This machinery will dress in two
days more flax than ono man can in the ordinary way in
thirty days. The flax after it it pulled and neperated from
the stock, should be spread on a meadow, thinly and reg
ularly, to be exposed to the dews for a week or ten days
Tint% the stock rase:mon a silver grey color, the under
able should then lee turned up and treated in the sustno
way. On a dry day it can then be tied In bundles and Is
ready for the mill. It is not necessary to dry it by fire or
smoke It over au oven, as this to only trouble for nothing.
An acre of good flax is worth from thirty to thirty-five
dollars without counting the need. Boman will also be
bought.

This work contains 204 pages, and upwards of 500 Ruled
and Examples, entirely and thoroughly practical ech as
arise every day in the common pursuits of BeustlAssi.
has already passed through a number of editions in rapid
succession, and ie pronounced by all classes of brieinesse
men to be the handiest book of reference, pertaining to
calculations, that has ever been published,
Every example in the book la worked out in full and
stated in a plain manner, so that when a mirage] nee. art
sea, those referring to the work will find no difficulty it/
solving It; in a word, the general arrangement el th e ,
CALCULATOR Is simple, that any one who knows how to
add, subtract, multiply and divide, can easily solve any or
dinary example that arises in bovines; or arrive at ti •
true result of any estimate required.
The chief aim of the author bee been to eschew theory
and philosophy in figures . , aiming only at Gists and einspil•
city, believing that business men care little about spen
ding time in discussing the phfineophy of roles, as the
science of figures, deeming it sufficient for their purpose
to be able ate moment, by reference, to arrive at the true
result. The CALCULATOR differs in this respect from all
other Arithmetics of the day and kindred works-41 le a
key to practical business calculations—it is. in Ho band)
of the business man,
what the key to mathematical workn
in the bands of the teacher In the school room—it Nell/
