A•llttie effort on the part of all onrpatrons would be as much II:: their advantage as to ours, as with Increased patronage we would be enabled to give a better paper. We cannot afford to put TIM 6L086 at less than 1.50 a year, and to enable us to deal honestly with all men we must demand the subsea - 01°n )early or half yearly in advance. Subecriptions can be sent to us through the mall at our risk, the Poetnwters witnessing the same. We Carneday and most respectfully ask our friends to make an effort to increase our patronage. Inquirer, of the 26th inst., that our Pennsylvania Regiments are still neg lected and shamefully treated. How long this treatment will continue it is difficult to know, I see the sth Regi ment, (to which our Standing Stone Guards belong,) have been imposed on, and our worthy friend R. B. Petre kin, Major of it. I think be must have changed" -through some cause, or we would have ,heard his voice in behalf of his MOIL Major, never forget the private soldier, or companies under Your command. The 14th and 15th Regiments at • Camp Johnston, near Lancaster;are in a miserable condition —no uniforms yet; and I ,see in-the Inquirer the commissary' department does not give them what they Are en titled to. The meat they get is not fit to cat. Every friend of the volunteers is asked to assist in ferreting out this villainous game practiced by land sharks about the Capitol at Harris burg. lam informed, by persons who have received letters from members of the Union Guards, of Petersburg, that many of them are destitute of necessa ry clothing and have no money, and arc also in need of tobacco, stationery, &e. These wauts have been made known to many citizens of Porter township, (that being the home of number of the Union Guards,) by let ter, and I understand that Mr. Jos. M. Becker, who I know to be one of the most generous men our county can boast of, and a few other citizens, all friends of the soldiers, sent. them a btt of, tobacco, &c., last week, which was reecived . with cheers. I think it the • duty of every citizen to aid them in every manner they possibly can, undoubtedly it is nothing, more than their duty. The expression, " Poor fellows ( ' pity them," does not alleviate their wants, but that is all they receive from many. Yours truly, F LAGS! FLAGS!!
