Cum bet lend township vs. Lewis A. Bushman. It grows out of the Bounty d fficuit'es in that township. Mr. Bushman was one of the Cemmittee appointed to fill the quota of Ilse township, and at Harrisburg secured I the services of Philadelphia party to put in a number of substitutes at a fixed price, which was done, and he paid over the money. Subsequently it was discovered that five less than the requisite, number were put in, some of the papers being forged, and the township lost the credit of the five mea. The School Board suttee quently brought suit against the parties who received the money, secured Judgment, but failing . to make the money, concluded lo make it out of Bushman. The latter defended on the ground that he acted bona Age as the representative of the School Board, and that the latter had endorsed his fiction by entering suit against the really guilty parties. The amount in dispute was $2600 and interest. The case was not con cluded until Monday evening, when the Jury returned a verdict for the Defendant. Thisand the case of Manse & Swope vs. Coahun occupied the entire attention of the Court last week, all the other cases going over. 011 th e applications for License were granted except that of Jacob Stock, Gettys burg, and Tobffus Kauffman, Franklin, which, by reason of remonstrances, were held over for the August Court. —Stage's Catarrh Remedy is no Patent Medicine humbug gotten up to dupe the ignorant and credulous, nor is it represented as being "composed of rare and precious substances brought from the four corners of the earth, carried seven times across the Great Desert of &harsh on the backs of fourteen camels, and brought across. the Atlantic Ocean on two ships."
