NEW GAME LAW.—We give in full
• on our first page, the Game law paaseciliy
the Legislature. Our sportsmen would ao
well to consult its provisions:
THE ClRCUS.—Tuesday last, being a
clear day, brought to town a I arge crowd
,to see Bryan's Circus and Menagerie.—
Everything pawed nff quietly.
DIVIDEND.—The Flr National Bank
of Gettysburg has declared a semi-anual
dividend of per cpnt., payable on the 10
inst., and the Gettysburg National Bank 6
per cent.
ZOTTAVES.—The Franklin Zonaves
will meet in New Oxford to-morrow, (Sat
urday,' at 9 A. M. for drill and parade.
The train will leave Gettysburg at 8.15 A.
M.
SHEEP KILLED.—We under'stand
that a number' of valuable Sheep have
been killed recently brtlipcs In Menalien
township, A. Hoffman, Jr., being one of
the heaviest losers.
'TOWNSHIP ACCOUNTS.—A law was
passed by the last Legislature requiring the
publication of township receipts and ex
ptrulitures in the newspapers. Township
officers will please make a note thereof.
SUPREME COU4T.— The Supreme
Court met at Harrisburg on Monday.—
The Adams county cases, five or six in
number, will beargued after the Somerset
and York cases are disposed of.
SAILED,-Rev. Dr. Schaff, for a num-
ber of years prominently indeutitled with
the German Ref , ,rmed church sailed for
Europe on the 21st ult., as representative
of the American Bible Society and the
Evangelical Alliance at the May anniver
saries in England.
ARREST.—A stranger giving his name
as James McCall, and professing to hail
from Baltimore. was arrested in this place
last week for stealing a violin, several
shirts, and other articles, at the Keystone
Hotel. and committed to jail for trial at
the August term.
Finding a "first class" local on
Bryan's Menagerie and Circus in the
Chstribersburg Valley Spirit. it was "clip
ped" last week for transfer to oar columng
with a neglect to credit our neighbor.—
Our readers will there fore understand that
the local aforesaid is due to the talent, tact
and energy of our enterprising neighbor.
THE SPRINGS RAILROAD.—The con
struction of the Passenger RailrOad, to
connect the town with the Katalymine
Spring, is a fixed fact. On Monday the
Company contracted with Dr. G. D.
SKrra,who commenced work on Wednes
day, and obligates himself to have the
ro.d graded, ties laid, &c., ready for the
rails, within 90 days ; and Dr. Smith is the
man to do what he undertakes.
COLD.—The warm, pleasant weather of
last week wus succeeded on Sunday by
a heavy storm—a regular old fashioned
north-easter. Alonday and Tuesday were
blustery and cold, requiring comfortable
fires. Our exchanges speak of hail and
snow in various places, and more or less
damage to fruit buds. We have not beard
of essential injury to the fruit here,
the high winds preventing frost thus
far.
UNEXPECTED DEATH.—Mr. Henry
Sharah, a well known citizen of Buchan
nan Valley, this county, died very unex
pectedly on the 26th ult. He felt unwell
on Satraday, and sent for a physician on
Sunday. A neighbor sat up with him on
Sunday night. and nn Monday nmminp.
-as his daughter approached the bed and
_spoke to him, she was shocked by the die
.covery that her father was dead, Death
.came so quietly as not even to arrest the
-attention of the attendant. His age was
:about 48 years.—Compiler.

All collections of boys, idlers, loaferaand
rowdies, who obstruct the street corners,
make obscene remarks of ladies who are at
times compelled to force their way through
there, and who make night hideous with
their how lings, should _ be attended to.—

NEW COOKING STOVE.—The atten.

EXCELSIOR PENN COOK STOVE,
which has recently been brought into the
market, and bids fair to throw all other
Stoves into the shade. This Stove took
the first premium at the State Fair held
in Harrisburg lust fall. Among its peculiar
merits are the large Oven and Flues, and
general simplicity, nut being encumbered
with unnecessary appendages, which in
many stoves only enhance the cost without
being or ptactical use. Fur beauty ol' de
sign, quality of material, and general ex
cellence, it cannot be excelled. The price
is lower than any other first-class Cook
Stove in market, and yet is warranted to
cook and bake equal to the best. The Ex

Wareroom of Col. C. H. 13crittEtt, on Car

for this place. Call and see it. tf

MARVELOUS . .L.NDUSTRX.—It is
scarcely necessary at this day to say Buy

into demand. In the book line, this Dic
