NOTLIER ROBBERY.—Last week
noticed the robbery of Mr. MARTIN'S

Upon this subject, we find this item in
ne of our late exchanges, giving the
umber o f claims already presented in the

Franklin county, 1,504, amounting to
:737,962,07, or an average of $490,59 Co
.. et; ; Fulton county, 127, amounting to
1,669,60, or an average of $328,08 each;
terry county, 3, amounting to $633,85, or
average of it. 9,75 ; Bodfor, 47, amount
ing to $3,984,92, or an average of $81,78 ;
Cumberland, 132, amounting to $24,2t112 82,
or an average of $184,73. The total is 1,-
815, amounting to tt 14,483 26 or an average
of $445.41. It is eatimated_that there will
be in all the border counties nearly four
housand claimants with an aggregate
amount of damages of between fifteen
hundred thousand and two million dol
aars.
THE TORCH-LIGHT PROCESSION.—
The demonstration in this place on Friday
night last, in honor of the recent Repub
lican victories, was an imposing one,
notwithstanding the brief notice. The
procession was formed in the diamond at
7 o'clock - , by Capt. HusTstt of the Grant
and Colfax Club, and marched through the
leading streets—the banners, Chinese lan
terns, tordhes, An. makings handsome ap
pearance. "Young America" expressing
a desire to participate, a number of small
square lanterns had been expressly pre
pared for them, with the letters G--41—A
—N—T appearing on them alternately,
which were carried by boys.
Dr. Tara had an ilhaminated omnibus
in line, with appropriate mottoes, follow
ed by a tender with a party or "Carpet
baggers," who had charge of a large buck,
and seemed to hail from the "Buckeye"
. State.
Another marked feature was a large open
- wagon, neatly ornamented, and carrying
a number of little! girls, who made the
streets vocal with patriotic songs—got up
.by Mr. NICHOLAS WEAVER.
A number of dwellings along the line of
. !march wore illuminated, some of them
numirops national flags and
portraits of ILincona, grant and Washing
tton, -being displayed.
.After marching through the streets the
- processioil halted in front of the "STAB
Szialnut." building,whlch had been pro
fusely decorated with pine, flags, dm., by
the Boys-In-Blue. The crowd at this time
blocked up the street, and In response to
calls, were successively addressed by D.
A. Buehler, Esq., Lieut. Win. R. Eystet,
A. J. Cover, Esq., Ron. Edward McPher
son, and Lieut. D. L. McKenzie.
The entire demonstration was a anaemia,
the enthusiast* =along the line of march
and during the speaking manifesting itself
