at her residence in Bucks co., Pa., LIARRI
ET'A. HALSEY, wile of Rey. A. 0. Halsey,
and daughter of Mr. John Ailair, sr., for
merly of Adams county.
The deceased was well known in this vi
cinity, where she spent the earlier years of
her [life. Removing to Philadelphia, she
finally settled in Bucks county, where she
as,urned , the duties of a pastor's wife, in a
large congregation, and covering au exten
sive area of country. No lie know the labors,
trial*, responsibilities, and varied duties at
tending such a position, except their knowl
edge coines by experience. Vi-iting every
household, ministering to the sick, comfort
ing the dying, consoling the bereaved, and
performing the last sad funeral rites at the
grave. In all seasons, amid the storms of
winter and the heat of summer, the 'pastor
and his wife are summoned from home.—
During last winter, thp deceased, whose
health had become somewhat enfeebled,
Contracted a heavy cold, which soon ripeniii
iltto that fatal disease—consumption. '
In. her lingering illness she l longed tq be .
with her Saviour, constantly bearing testi
mony to the faith that was her gnide through
life. I In her dying hours she requested her
faithful nurse to sing the following hymn,
whilst her spirit was summoned, and the
angels waiting to bear her away to her fria
mortal home :
1
l!kly atest sun is sinking fast,
M race is nearly run,
My strongest trials now are past,
My triumph is begun.
. 0, come, angel band ;
Come, and around me stand ;
• 0, bear pie away on your snowy wings,
To my immortal home.
know I'maOuing the holy ranks
of friends and kindred dear,
For I brush tne dews on Jordan's banks,
The crossing must be near.
•.
I've almost gained my heavenly home,
My spirit loudly sings,
pie holy ones, behold they. come--
, • I hear the noise of wings! ,
bear my longing heart to him, -
,ttWho bled and died for me,
Vhose blood now ileanses froM all sin,
And gives me victory, . •
