Resolved, That the foundations of the Re
publican party, like the foundations of our
Government, are based on the principles of
Eternal Justice, and we would be false to
those principles, false to our past history, and
false to the memory of our brethren, who have
died on a hundred battle-fields, in the contest
with human slavery, were we to sanction any
measure of reconstruction not based on the
principle of the equality of all men before
the law.
Resolved, That a Government which . ; ne
glects to make provision for the losses :of its
ldyal citizens, through a causeless rebellion,
is basely negligent of its duty, and we recog
nize it as the paramount duty •of Congress to
enact at once such laws as will confiscate and
apply the property of leading and wealthy
rebels to the payment of the damages so in
flicted.
Resolved, That the course of Hon. Thad
deus Stevens in Congress, has folly met, the
etpectation of his party, and the wise and
zupright statesmanship displayed by him in
efforts to restore a rescued country, upon the

A muss scheme is on foot in Chicago to
build a magnificent system of docka r to extend
several hundred feet from the shore, aldng the
lake for the distance of half a mile. The esti
mated coin is from $5,000,000 to $7,000,000,

Tan Grand Lodge of the OrK4l Tempi= :of
Pennsylvania, a branch of the Masonic Order
and embracing three of its degrees, convened
in session at Mozart Hall, Ptttsbnrgh, on` the
11th. Three hundred and 114-three Lodges
were represented, and there were seven hun
dred delegates on the floor. Every district in
the State was represented. The annual re
port shows that the membership of the organi
zation in Pennsylvania has increased to 20,000.

Corn—The market opened with quite an ac
#ve demand for shipment, and prices ad
vanced about 2 cents for while, and 3 to 4
cents for yellow. The receipts "were larger
than for some days, amounting to 22.288 bu
shels white, and 12.876 bushels yellow.—
Sales were as follows: White 100 to 106
cents; Yellow. 100 to 108 cents. Oats are
firmer, and prices about 2 cents better. Sales
at 70 to 72 cents,- Rye—No receipts or sales
reported.
FINANCE AND TRADE
Monday Morning.
Gold vas quite active to-day. The Balboa
; the Baltimore Stock Board amounted to a
bout $65,000. The opening prices were: 1375,
the market ruling firm and closed at 137 i.
Government securities were quite strong
and active to-day, and generally i to i better.
